Ingredients

  • 4 cups thinly sliced potatoes
  • 1 cup grated cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

Instructions 

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes.
  3. Gradually whisk in the milk, and cook until the mixture has thickened and is smooth.
  4. Add the salt and pepper, then stir in the grated cheese until melted and well combined.
  5. Layer half of the sliced potatoes in a greased baking dish. Pour half of the cheese sauce over the potatoes. Repeat with the remaining potatoes and cheese sauce.
  6. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbly.
  7. Let it cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy!
