  • 2 cups Yellow split peas rinsed and drained
  • 1 large Onion chopped
  • 2 cloves Garlic minced
  • 2 cups Ham diced
  • 1 cup Carrots chopped
  • 1 cup Celery chopped
  • 8 cups Chicken broth
  • 1 teaspoon Dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon Black pepper to taste

Instructions 

  1. 1. In a large pot, sauté the onion and garlic until softened.
  2. 2. Add the ham, carrots, and celery. Cook for a few minutes.
  3. 3. Add the yellow split peas, chicken broth, thyme, and black pepper.
  4. 4. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for about 2 hours, or until peas are tender.

  6. 6. Adjust seasoning to taste and serve hot.
