- 4 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 1 cup chopped onion
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoon chili powder
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon ground coriander
- 1 cup crushed tomatoes
- 2 cups chicken broth
- 1 oz dark chocolate, chopped
Heat the oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic, and cook until softened.
Stir in the chili powder, cumin, cinnamon, and coriander. Cook for another minute.
Add the crushed tomatoes and chicken broth. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 30 minutes.
Remove from heat and let cool slightly. Transfer to a blender and blend until smooth.
Return the sauce to the pot, stir in the chopped chocolate, and cook over low heat until the chocolate is melted and the sauce is thickened, about 10 minutes.
